Freedom sunset

In being self confident, a person may feel capable, self assured, competent or comfortable with who they are.

We can feel confident in some things but not others.  For example, we may feel comfortable and confident around close friends, yet nervous and anxious around new people.  We may feel confident in doing one job, however, if we move to another job, this confidence may not be there.

If there were a scale of 1 to 100 where 1 represented no confidence and 100 lots of confidence, we can all place ourselves on that scale at some point and we can each move up and down that scale day by day or even minute by minute.

When we feel a lack of confidence and we feel it may be impeding our ability to live to our potential or if it’s stopping us from living our lives fully, we may then want to seek help to rectify this.

A lack of self confidence can create restrictive, yet unnecessary behaviour patterns.  By building confidence, you can feel more much positive and much stronger allowing you to fulfill your potential and desires.

A lack of confidence can be caused by a wide range of life experiences and can manifest itself in many different ways.  For example:

  • Fear of rejection
  • Fear of giving presentations
  • Fear of speaking in public
  • Stage fright
  • Fear of commitment
  • Social Phobia (see Phobias).

Feeling confident can allow us to –

  • Feel comfortable in ourselves
  • Develop stronger relationships
  • Increase earning potential
  • Allow us to reach our potential
  • Feel calm and relaxed
  • Speak up in groups
  • Express ourselves freely
  • Be true to ourselves

Being confident does not mean that we’re going to be arrogant or cocky.  In fact this is the complete opposite as people with these traits tend to be lacking in confidence but are compensating for this by expressing an outward false front.

Personal Therapy can help you become more confident, assertive and gain greater self esteem and hypnotherapy and/or counseling can be very effective in helping you to feel as you’d like to be.
