Hypnotherapy and Counselling can be an excellent method to help you lose weight and rather than focusing on deprivation or will power, you can help create a change in your attitude to food and lifestyle choice.  We can address the psychological factors that play a key part in weight gain such as lack of confidence, anxiety or depression – the factors that can cause people to comfort eat or develop unhealthy eating habits.

Diets are largely based on deprivation and as humans as soon as we deprive ourselves of something, we immediately want it more.

Hypnotherapy is based on feeling rewarded and gaining a sense of wellbeing and by looking to lose weight, it shows that you value yourself and you’re looking to care for you.  Counselling, in the context of losing weight, can allow your self awareness to grow to allow you to focus on the important aspects of your eating habits and allow you to formulate the healthier ways of being that are going to fit for You.  This will allow you to lose the weight you desire and feel as you would like to.

As part of your therapy, we’re likely to look to –

  • Explore your eating habits, where they originate from and what purposes food serves for you
  • Explore where your eating is beyond your physical needs for nourishment.
  • Create a vivid image and description of how you’d like to be.
  • SMART goals – Specific targets and how you’re going to achieve it; Measurable – how will you know you’re moving in the right direction will this be by weight, how your clothes fit, how you feel etc.. ; Achievable – ensuring the goal(s) are achievable; Realistic – ensuring they are realistic; and Time-orientated to give a focus on achieving the Specific, Measurable, Achievable and Realistic goal(s)
  • Identify potential psychological blocks that may impede your progress.
  • Explore the tools and techniques that will fit for you to enable you to get to where you want to be.
  • Develop new eating habits that you’ll enjoy
  • Develop new healthier ways of being
