Personal Empowerment Therapy – Counselling in Birmingham and Sutton Coldfield
Counselling is usually conducted face to face but can be via Skype, email or telephone. Working from two therapy rooms in Sutton Coldfield (B73 area) and in Birmingham (in Great Barr), I can offer flexible appointment times.
What is counselling?
Counselling is a talking therapy where, together we can look to work on your issues and/or towards your desired outcome. Whether we are aware of it or not, we are the greatest experts on ourselves as it’s only us who can know how we feel about things that are happening in our lives and what will fit best for us.
By talking, we gain a greater understanding and having a professional with us, we can explore things deeper. Often, this allows us to see what we could do differently, what resources we have to hand or allows us to accept ourselves more reducing the negative feelings we may have about ourselves.
Counselling seeks to provide an open, non-judgemental space for you to explore your issue, gain the understanding you need and then, if appropriate, make the changes you require. For some, this can mean dealing with a certain problem or issue or finding ways of improving a relationship. For others it can be finding ways to manage the symptoms such as with anxiety and once we gain the control, we can look at what’s happening beneath and make changes such as seeking to have greater self belief or to stop allowing negative beliefs to continue to affect us.
What can it help with?
It can help with a number of issues and life problems such as relationships, motivation, anxiety, confidence, esteem and stress to name a few. Feel free to contact me if you’d like any further information about how counselling may help you.
How soon will I feel the benefits
Often within the first session or 2, you’ll be gaining a feel for how counselling is helping and how it’s going to help. We will continually evaluate how the sessions are to ensure we’re working together in the right way towards your desired outcomes.
How will I find you?
Both locations are easy to find. When confirming a first appointment, I often email or send a confirmation with directions. The Birmingham (Great Barr) counselling room is very close to the Scott Arms crossroads on the Newton Road so is easily accessible from Walsall, West Bromwich, Wednesbury and all of Birmingham. The A34 leads from the City Centre to Great Barr.
The Sutton Coldfield counselling room is in the Bannersgate area and is close to Birmingham (Kingstanding, Erdington, Streetly and Great Barr).
